The place
Isaac's Khan, deep in the Arava
Isaac's Khan sits inside an organic date-palm grove at the edge of Moshav Hatzeva, deep in the Arava desert. Isaac built it by hand over many years, from wood and stone and whatever the land gave him. By day there is palm shade and open ground running east to the mountains of Edom; by night there is a fire, quiet, and a sky full of stars.

Getting there
The drive and the map
The Khan is one tap away on Waze. To find your way around once you arrive, the hand-drawn map below lays out the grounds: where the rooms are, where the fire pits and common areas sit, and where the tent field opens up.
Lodging
The rooms at the Khan
The Khan holds a range of rooms, from small private cabins to large shared spaces. The lodging is simple and made for the desert: wood, mattresses, and a few steps to the fire and the common areas. You book a room alongside your ticket, first come first served, and the places in each room are limited.
The Khan's rooms, from the smallest to the largest, are booked together with your ticket.
Small rooms · up to 6
Rooms · 10 to 12
Large spaces · 20 to 40
The rooms carry the names of the grove's desert trees and fruit. Sleeping is on mattresses, with a blanket and pillow provided. Bring your own sheets, or rent a set as an add-on with your ticket.

Tents and camping
Sleeping under the stars
If you'd rather sleep under the open sky, you can rent a tent at the Khan or bring your own gear and camp in the tent field. Either way you sleep out in the open desert, under the same stars, and wake to the quiet of the morning.
